PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording material having high sensitivity, low fog, stability to a change in development conditions and good shelf stability of image. SOLUTION: The image recording material contains at least photosensitive silver halide, a reducing agent, a binder and a compound of formula (1) [where R1 and R2 are each a substituent and may bond to each other to form a ring; X is a halogen; L is methylene; (m) is an integer of 0-7; Y is a divalent linking group; (n) is 0 or 1; and Z is a residue derived from a photographically useful compound] on the base.
