A steering column holding structure (S), includes: a column lower bracket (3) locating at rear end of an automobile in relation to a pedal lever (1), the column lower bracket (3) holding a steering column (2), wherein the column lower bracket (3) comprises: a column holding section (31) holding the steering column (2); and a first and a second protruding sections (133,33) formed with a first and a second through holes (132a,32a) so that the column lower bracket (3) is attached to a column holding frame of the automobile with bolts (107,7). In the above construction, the first protruding section (133) is formed with an opening channel (132b) so as to open the first through hole (132a), thereby making the first protruding section (133) between the opening channel (132b) and the steering column (2) as a absorbingly deforming section which is to be deformed by the pedal lever (1) when the automobile forwardingly bumps. <IMAGE> |
