PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating used activated carbon, after used in a chlorine treatment process, in an ozone treatment process and in a water purification treatment process comprising many treatments such as an activated carbon treatment, in the so-called advanced water purification treatment process. SOLUTION: This method for treating the used activated carbon, characterized by charging into a coke oven together with coal of coke raw material the used activated carbon which has an evaporable content of 10 to 20 wt.% and a water content of >=0.1 wt.% and has been used for a water purification treatment process having at least a chlorine treatment process and/or an ozone treatment process before an activated carbon treatment.
