PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving device for a single-rail dolly used for civil work on the inclined ground and suitable for transporting heavy load, and to provide rack structure of a rail lightweight with sufficient strength even if transporting heavy load in a single-rail dolly driving system solving the problem of strength in a conventional driving system of roller pins and a rack and meeting the demand of a rail member being as lightweight as possible and ensuring short- term strength. SOLUTION: In this driving device for the single-rail dolly, a driving wheel 3 is provided with a plurality of roller pins 4 rotatable on an intermeshing pitch circumference. The tooth bottom shape of rack-like tooth form 12 of the rail 1 meshed with the roller pins is made almost equal to the radius R of the roller pin so that a part of the tooth face and a part of the tooth bottom part abut on the outer periphery of the roller pin when meshed. The outer periphery 14 of the driving wheel 3 abuts on a rack fitting face 15 of the rail 1, and collar parts 5 guided by the side face of the rail are constituted at both end parts of the outer periphery of the driving wheel.
