PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a printing sheet from touching the head face of a print head to be stained when it is discharged. SOLUTION: Upon finishing print operation in a page of a printing sheet P by means of a print head 10, a carriage stop control means 41 temporarily stops carrying operation of the printing sheet P by means of a pair of feed rollers 11a, 11b. A head retreat control means 42 retreats the print head 10 to a retreat position on the printing sheet P. A carriage restart control means 43 restarts carrying operation of the printing sheet P temporarily stopped by the pair of feed rollers 11a, 11b.
