PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce characteristic variations over long-time use and a S/N reduction due to dark output and to shorten photographing cycles. SOLUTION: To an MIS type photoelectric converting element which uses an amorphous semiconductor as its material, a power source which supplies a bias (Vs) for photoelectric conversion, a power source (VREF) for accumulated charge resetting, and an installation point for applying a zero bias (VGND), when the element is not in operation are connected via SW1. Emitted X ray from an X-ray source, as a 1st light source after passing through an unillustrated sample to impinge on a fluorescent body, is absorbed by the fluorescent body and converted into visible light. The visible light from the fluorescent body is made to irradiate a photoelectric converting element. Prior to reading of an X-ray image, an LED light source is turned on. Then SW2 and SW3 are switches for turning on the X-ray source and LED light source. In this style, there exist read and non-read operation periods are read; and the X-ray source illuminates in the read period, and the LED light source is put out in the non-read period.
