PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical configuration permitting high resolution and broadening of a range of visual field for a small optical scanning type optical device. SOLUTION: The optical scanning optical system has a point light source, a converging optical system 18 to converge light from the point light source on an object, a scanning means to scan where the point light source and the converging optical system 18 are integrated into one body, and an optical protective member 26 disposed between the converging optical system 18 and the object. The optical protective member 26 consists of at least one optical member having a diverging power.
