PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a speed reduction mechanism to withstand use in an engine room and a rise in temperature due to heat of friction resulting from enhancement of outputs and to impart better wear resistance and toughness to gears for increased durability. SOLUTION: The speed reduction mechanism 5 transmits the output of a steering assist motor 1 to a steering mechanism via a worm 3 and a worm wheel 4. The worm wheel 4 of the speed reduction mechanism 5 is made from a thermosetting synthetic resin in which a sheet of aramid resin having little offensiveness to mating members and having the effect of enhancing the wear resistance of the synthetic resin is packed.
