摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device which can be mounted on electronic equipment by an easy method. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal device has a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between a couple of substrates arranged opposite each other, and is made easy to mount on external equipment by providing an external connection terminal on at least one side of an end part of one substrate or either on at least one side of the mount surface of one substrate or outside the display area of one substrate. For example, a signal electrode is provided on the internal surface of the lower substrate between the couple of substrates, a lead-around wire for the signal electrode is provided over the external surface of the substrate through a through hole penetrating the lower substrate, and the external connection terminal is connected to the lead-around wire on the external surface of the substrate. A socket terminal, a pin array, a ball grid array, etc., are usable as the external connection terminal.
