PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the number of members and simplify the structure. SOLUTION: A latch device provided with an operating part 11, connection means 19 and 15 built in an opening and shutting lid 2 can be changed over to a locking position, the connection means where the connection means is engaged with the fixing part 4, 3 of the main body 1 and to non-lock position where the connection is release by a pushing operation of the operating part 11. Improved points are in that a latch device 10 is overhanged in the direction of the board width of the operating part 11 and provided with a spring means 16 maintaining the connection means 19 and 15 at the lock position, the connection means 19 and 15 are linked with the spring means 16 and the operating part 11, the swing direction of the operating part 11 and the spring means 16 are controlled respectively by guide parts 7 and 8 installed in the led 2 and the spring means 16 is displaced resiliently through the guide part 8 to shift the connection means 19 and 15 to the non-lock position and increase urging power when the operation part 11 is moved straightly along the guide part 7 with the pushing operation.
