PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image exposure device which makes it possible to obtain always desired image sizes regardless of the kinds of photosensitive materials. SOLUTION: This device has a scanning exposure section which forms the images by transporting paper P in a sub-scanning direction orthogonal to a main scanning direction while scanning the paper with exposure light L in the main scanning direction, first and second transporting roller mechanism 5 and 6 which transport the paper P at a prescribed speed, a drive motor 13 for driving these first and second transporting roller mechanisms 5 and 6, a photosensitive material detecting means 4 which detects the kinds (width and image quality) of the paper P, a drive speed correcting means 4c which determine the correction data for correcting the drive speed of the drive motor 13 in accordance with the detected result by the photosensitive material detecting means 4a and a motor driver 22 which controls the moving speed of the drive motor 13 in accordance with the correction data determined by the drive speed correcting means 4c.
