PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain acetic anhydride which is purified acetic anhydride and does not cause quality problems such as coloration, by heating, or the like. SOLUTION: This acetic anhydride is characterized by having <=10 APHA value of sulfuric acid coloration test after heat treatment at 80-120 deg.C for >=5 hours.
