PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal composition which satisfies various characteristics required for elecrtrooptic display elements, especially AM-LCD subjected to the active matrix driving, and can maintain a low threshold voltage, a wide nematic temperature range, and a high retention up to a high temperature, and to provide a liquid crystal element using the liquid crystal composition, or to provide a liquid crystal medium and a liquid crystal display element in which the above defects are improved. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal composition characterized by comprising at least one compound selected from a group A consisting of a compound of formula (1-1) and a compound of formula (1-2), at least one compound selected from a group B consisting of a compound of formula (2-1) and a compound of formula (2-2), and at least one compound selected from a group C consisting of a compound of formula (3-1) and a compound of formula (3-2).
