PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus generating a signal for controlling the writing position of laser light having a constant pulse width even if the pixel density is different. SOLUTION: A plotter section 110 comprises a synchronization detecting section 38 generating a pulse signal for controlling the laser light irradiation start timing for each line based laser light detected by a photodiode 20 arranged on the main scanning line of laser light, a counter 40 for measuring the pulse width of the pulse signal, and means for generating a voltage by altering the reference voltage level based on the pulse width measured by the counter wherein image information, inputted based on an image clock signal and a sync detection signal, is transferred line by line to an LD drive section 37.
