PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder having a stable and versatile recovery means in which adaptive suction recovery can be set individually for a small high density recording head having a plurality of nozzles and nozzle arrays independently from the characteristics of ink or the type of recording head. SOLUTION: The ink jet recorder comprises a cap 35 for capping a plurality of ink ejection ports, valves 46a, 46b interconnecting the inner space of the cap and the atmosphere, and communicating means with the cap 35 and sucking ink from the ejection port. The cap 35 is an integral cap having a plurality of inner spaces corresponding to a plurality of kinds of ink being ejected from the plurality of nozzle arrays, and a plurality of valves 46a, 46b individually communicating with the plurality of inner spaces, are provided. Open/close position of the valves 46a, 46b is controlled for ink being ejected from each nozzle array. |
