PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a spun yarn capable of providing a woven or a knitted fabric excellent in pill resistance with a slight lowering of productivity due to yarn breakage in a spinning process. SOLUTION: This spun yarn is obtained by carrying out mix spinning of polyester staple fibers comprising a polyester copolymerized with 0.5-1.5 mol% of phosphoric acid with binder fibers having a binder component having >=150 deg.C melting point and is subjected to wet heat treatment at 130-140 deg.C for 10-90 min after spinning and further dry heat treatment at 150-180 deg.C temperature. In the spun yarn, the polyester staple fibers are fused with the binder fibers.
