PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector that properly carries out the positioning of an optical waveguide in the waveguide fixing groove of an optical connector housing. SOLUTION: In the optical connector having an optical waveguide held in a tubular housing with a square cross section; the housing 5 is provided with a waveguide fixing groove 50 formed in the axial direction; the waveguide fixing groove 50 is constituted of a bend-free flat side face 52 over the entire length, a bent side face 51 in which a tapered engaging face 511 is formed in a bent fashion near the tip end on the abutting face 59 side of the housing, and a bottom face 53; and a tapered part 41 is formed near the tip end on one side of the optical waveguide 4.
