PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector and an adaptor therefor that have no need of using a jig in attaching/detaching a locking spring and also is reduced in cost. SOLUTION: The adaptor 1 is composed of an external member 2 and a pair of locking springs 3. A pair of first engaging pieces 3C of each locking spring is lightly force-fitted into each pair of first engaging parts 2F of the external member, so that a pair of projections 3D is brought into contact with each pair of tapered parts 2B. In addition, a pair of second engaging pieces 3E is elastically deformed, so that the circular part 3G of each hole 3F is inserted into each pair of second engaging parts 2D. If a projected part 3B is pushed down after a plug is engaged with the external member, the locking spring rotates around the pair of second engaging parts, and a pair of spring pieces 3H restrain the plug. Successively, if a planar plate 3A is pushed down, the pair of first engaging pieces is force-fitted into the pair of first engaging parts, and the locking spring is held on the external member.
