1,095,614. Conduit &c. joints. E. G. HAGELIN and E. O. F. LENNGREN. April 29, 1966 [May 5, 1965; May 31, 1965; Jan. 10, 1966], No. 18812/66. Heading F2G. Members 2 have flanges 3 which, when the members are pushed in the longitudinal directions thereof, engage the flanges 1 of ventilating ducts. Each member is provided with sealing material 5 which is heated and caused to expand to seal the joint against leakage. The members include a member 4, which may be W-shape in cross-section, to support the sealing material and a pyrotechnical agent 6 ignited through holes in the members 2. In a modified form, a tubular support member (7), Fig. 5 (not shown), is used and to which a layer of expansible sealing medium (9) is applied, the tube being filled with or containing a layer of a pyrotechnical substance (8) or serving as a conduit for the passage of hot air, steam or other fluid heating medium, or an electrical heater may be inserted therein. A tubular support element carrying a layer of expansible sealing material may be used without a connecting member 2 to seal spaces or gaps other than at joints. Joints around windows may be sealed. |
