PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid level detector capable of accurately detecting a liquid level. SOLUTION: This detector is provided with a cylindrical guide part erected to be communicated with a water storage part, a float 26 floating on a water surface in the guide part to move vertically in accompaniment to variation of the water level guided by the guide part, and a detection part 28 for detecting the water level. The detection part 28 has a light emitting part 28E for emitting detection light horizontally, and a photoreceiving part 28A for photoreceiving the detection light, and detects the water level by blocking and nonblocking of the detection light caused by the vertical motion of the float 26. An upper face of the float 26 is flat, and an upper edge of the float 26 is horizontal in view from a detection light P side. Since the detection light is sufficiently blocked thereby when an upper end of the float 26 reaches to an upper end of the detection light, the water level is detected accurately.
