PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a supporting device capable of absorbing deformation due to thermal expansion or gravity by a simple constitution and capable of realizing stabilized support when a cylindrical or column type member is supported turnably about the axial line of the same. SOLUTION: The supporting device S for supporting a cylindrical or columnar member or an inner cylinder R turnably about the axial line of the same is provided with an annular supporting plate 1 fixed concentrically to the outer surface of the inner cylinder R, an annular supporting unit 2 arranged around the supporting plate 1 and having an inner peripheral surface 2a opposed to the outer peripheral surface 1a of the supporting plate 1, and a turnable roller unit 3 for supporting the annular supporting unit 2. In this case, the outer peripheral surface 1a of the supporting plate 1 and the inner peripheral surface 2a of the annular supporting unit 2 are formed respectively so as to have sectionally arcuate configurations while they are contacted with each other at the lower part of them.
