PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a camera system using an imaging device which is comparatively easily controlled and whose cost is reduced, because the imaging device realizing accurate control is used in order to make the subject image pickup and exposing timing of silver halide imaging and electronic imaging coincident in a camera system used both for silver halide photography and electronic image pickup. SOLUTION: In this camera system consisting of a silver halide camera part 1 using a CMOS area sensor 32 in an electronic camera part 2 and the electronic camera part 2, the 1st timing showing the completion of preparation for image pickup by the camera part 1 is outputted to the camera part 2 from the camera part 1, and the 2nd timing is outputted to the camera part 1 from the camera part 2 at the time of triggering a shutter. After outputting the 1st timing, the camera part 1 performs silver halide image pickup operation with the 2nd timing as reference, and the camera part 2 selects the output of image data from the area sensor 32 in frame units with the 1st timing as reference and sets it as image pickup data.
