PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air bag device for a front passenger seat which is excellent in appearance of an instrument panel and has a skin layer of the instrument panel which is smoothly broken at the time of expansion of an air bag. SOLUTION: An instrument panel 11 of an air bag device M1 for a front passenger seat is composed of a base part 12 which has the front side door part 15 and the rear side door part 16 opened at the time of expansion of an air bag 1, a foam layer 27, a skin layer 30 for a door part which covers a surface side of the rear side door part 16, and a skin layer 29 which has a skin layer 31 for a general part covering other parts of the instrument panel 11. Both terminals 30a and 31a which are adjacent to the skin layer 30 for a door part and the skin layer 31 for a general part are piled and buried inside the foam layer 27. Plane shapes of the skin layer 30 for a door part and right and left, both corners of the rear side door part 16 on the front end side of the vehicle are formed in a nearly arc shape. Right and left both edges of the frond side door part 15 on the rear end side of the vehicle which extends frontward of the vehicle extends frontward of the vehicle in a nearly straight line from the inner side of the nearly arc shaped part of the right and left both corners of the rear side door part 16 on the front end side of the vehicle as the start point.
