PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxygen sensor, capable of obtaining high reliability and long product life by preventing the occurrence of chipping, cracks, etc., in the bottom surface of a separator and the face of a heating element in assembly and during operation and avoiding the state of operation failures and inoperatable state, even in the case that the bottom surface of the separator and the face of the heating element are opposed to each other so that they can be brought into contact with each other. SOLUTION: At least one of the bottom surface 18e of the separator and the face 3c of the heating element opposite to each other comprises a protruded surface F1. The protruded surface F1 is capable of preventing the occurrence of chippings, cracks, etc., in the bottom surface 18e of the separator and the face 3c of the heating element which are opposite to each other which can be brought into contact with each other by a pressing force in assembly, vibrations during the operation of an internal combustion engine, etc. Therefore, it is possible to prevent the oxygen sensor 1 (oxygen-detecting element 2) from turning into a state of operational failures and inoperatable state, due to these fragments that have come off and to heighten the reliability and lengthen the product life of the oxygen sensor. |
