PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing element which can increase utilization efficiency of light by taking out light after aligning planes of polarization from incident light of random polarization even when parallelism of the incident light is rough. SOLUTION: The polarizing element 10 which controls the planes of polarization of light and generates light having definite polarization direction is distinguished by that a polarizing hologram 11 acting in dependence of the planes of polarization and a λ/2 wavelength plane supporting body 12 are arranged with close contact with each other and a λ/2 wavelength plate 13 is arranged at a position where only light having the specified plane of polarization passes or at a position where only light orthogonal to the specified light passes. |
