PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive for a pivot eliminating losses caused by a stop when pivotal movement is changed to axial movement or vice versa. SOLUTION: A first and a second motors are formed on the pivot and a first and a second rotors are both brought into engagement with the pivot by means of a screw member and an axial slide guide member, respectively, so that the rotation of the first rotor causes axial movement of the pivot while the synchronous rotation of the first and second rotors cause only the pivotal movement of the pivot. Rotations of the first and second motors are controlled commonly by a controller whereby the pivot is brought into pivotal movement, without a temporary stop, as it is moved axially.
