PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display panel with high picture quality in which image persistence phenomenon is suppressed. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display panel has a pair of substrates at least one of which is transparent, a liquid crystal composition layer aligned and held between the pair of substrates, an alignment film formed on each substrates and in contact with the liquid crystal composition layer to align the liquid crystal, a polarizing means, a plurality of pixels in a matrix state, a thin film transistor device disposed in each pixel and connected to a pixel electrode, signal wiring electrode and scanning wiring electrode, a common electrode, a means to apply voltage signal waveforms to change the transmittance or reflectance of the pixel, and a means to apply an electric field almost parallel to the substrate surface between the pixel electrode and the common electrode. The alignment film consists of polyimide derived from an aliphatic tetracarboxylic acid. |
