<p>An integrated system and method for reading image data. An optical scanner/image reader is provided for reading images and decoding optical information or code, including one and two dimensional symbologies at variable depth of field, including memory and image processing for high speed applications. In a disclosed example, an image processor uses key thresholds to quickly and efficiently generate a binary image from a multi-bit image. The key threshold may be derived from a portion of the image data, thereby enabling the image processor to generate binary data as image data is being received. <IMAGE></p> |
