A fluid mixer assembly and more particularly an exhaust gas re-circulation (EGR) mixer (48) comprising an inlet conduit (46), an exhaust conduit (40), and a shielded conduit (34). The shielded conduit (34) is partially disposed in the inlet conduit (46) and has a fluid diverting portion (70) and fluid passing portion (80). The fluid diverting portion (70) diverts intake air into a first fluid stream (72) and a second fluid stream (74). Exhaust gas is passed through fluid passing portion (80) and is mixed with the first fluid stream (72) and second fluid stream (74) generally at a point downstream of the shielded conduit (34). The end of the shielded conduit which is disposed within the inlet conduit can have first and second surfaces (92, 106, Fig 3) and a pair of third surfaces (88) connecting the first and second surfaces and whereby a width associated with the first surface (92, Fig 3) is narrower than a width associated the second surface (106, Fig 3). |
