PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for working a bamboo material wherein for working the bamboo material in a longitudinal direction, a specific sawn surface is formed ranging over the longitudinal direction without using splitting to obtain the bamboo material easy to be worked in the following process as a building material while the worked bamboo material is provided. SOLUTION: Reference surfaces 12 are opposingly formed by eliminating opposed two surfaces by a lumbering machine 5 such as a dually sawing machine and the like so that an unworked bamboo material 10 has a specific thickness in its longitudinal direction.
