PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope system capable of rewritably storing endoscope related data and easily managing it, and allowing miniaturization of an endoscope and peripheral equipment. SOLUTION: The endoscope 2 having an insertion tube 11 inserted into a patient or the like is provided with a nonvolatile memory 20 for rewritably storing data related to the endoscope 2, thereby storing the data requiring rewriting of used facility name or the like to facilitate management. When the endoscope 2 is connected to an image processing device 3A having peripheral equipment such as a communicating function, a serial interface formes a communicating means for reading or writing data out of or into the nonvolatile memory 20, thereby easily realizing data processing and miniaturizing the endoscope 2 and the peripheral equipment side.
