PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a powdery green tea material or a cut green tea material hygienic and excellent in coloring at a low cost by the following processes: at first, as a pretreatment of a drying process, green tea leaves are washed with water, and water is removed from the leaves, or green tea leaves are washed with liquid, sterilized and rinsed, and subsequently, liquid is removed from the leaves; the leaves are charged into a reduced pressure tank as they are wet; and dried by applying controlled microwave heating and controlled far-infrared heating at the same time under reduced pressure. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing powdery green tea such as ground tea or green tea such as cut green tea comprises the following processes: raw green tea leaves are charged in a reduced pressure tank; the pressure of the tank is controlled at a single or plural targeting reduced pressures; and the raw green tea leaves are subjected to a drying treatment by applying controlled microwave heating and controlled far-infrared heating at the same time to a part or to the whole of the whole process. Before the raw green tea leaves are charged into the reduced pressure tank, the raw green leaves are washed with water and the water is removed, or the leaves are washed with liquid and sterilized, and subsequently liquid is removed from the leaves. Then, the treated raw leaves are charged into the reduced tank as they are wet, and they are dried.
