PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the state of a tire body ply wind-up part without directly confirming the wind-up part visually. SOLUTION: An apparatus for detecting the wind-up state of the tire body ply wind-up part which winds up the body ply bonded to a tire drum from its both ends in such a state that beads are mounted on both ends of the body ply to wrap the beads, is equipped with a thickness measuring sensor for measuring the thickness of the body ply and a thickness measuring instrument for measuring the thickness of the body ply while relatively rotating the tire drum at a position where the wind-up part must be present by the thickness measuring sensor.
