A method for the measurement of the flow velocity of a liquid by utilization of the vortices alternately occurring with a frequency dependent on the flow velocity of the liquid from a body being located in a stationary position in the liquid flow. The vortices are led along an electro-mechanical converter following said body in the flow direction of the liquid, for providing electrical signals corresponding to the frequency of the succession and/or of the intensity of the vortices. The signals received are analyzed for receiving analysis values for the frequency and/or the amplitude of the signals. Finally, the determined analysis values of the signals are compared with given reference values for the frequency and/or the amplitude and in each case assigned to a certain flow velocity of the liquid. A device for achieving this method comprises a body (2) generating vortices, which body (2) is located in stationary position within a pipe (1) of a known cross-sectithe vortices being spaced apart from the body (2), an electro-mechanical converter (sensor 8) is arranged in a manner affected by the vortices. The signals of the sensor are input to a circuit for evaluating said signals in view of frequency and/or amplitude and for comparing them with predetermined values assigned to the flow velocity. |
