PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a durable forging die for manufacturing a gear by warm or hot forging. SOLUTION: A stock member is manufactured by an electro-spark machining or machining and the subsequent electro-spark machining. A heat resistant metallic layer (2a) is formed on the face forming a tooth tip of a die by padding on the blank (1) surface when manufacturing a warm/hot forging gear die through processes following a precise machining process and a polishing process and further, it is subjected to the electro-spark machining or the machining process to obtain a warm/hot forging gear die having a heat resistant metallic layer (2b) on the surface of the tooth tip of the die.
