A method and a system for processing digital audio signal pre-echoes. Sample s x(n) are frequency transform block-coded as coefficients y(k) then transmitted as coefficients Cy(k), decoded as coefficients y'(k), and reverse frequency transform pro- cessed to recreate the original post-transmission signal x'(n). During the coding process and after the coding of coefficients for the transmission of coded coefficients Cy(k), said coded coefficients Cy(k) are decoded and reverse frequency transform pro- cessed to recreate the decoded signal x"(n), which is substantially identica l to signal x'(n), and the optimal filtering mask is deter- mined in order to recreate the original signal x(n). The coded coefficients Cy(k) and the gain and filtering mask parameters are simultaneousiy transmitted to the decoding process. Suitable filtering of th e original post-transmission signal x'(n) is performed during the decoding process in order to recreate the original post- transmission and post-processing signal xt(n). The method and system may be used in processing digital audio signais in the phonogram or videogram industries. L'invention concerne un procédé et un système de traitement des prééchos d'u n signal audio-numérique. Les échantillons x(n) sont codés par blocs par transformée fréquentielle en coefficients y(k), puis transmis en coefficients Cy(k), dé- codés en coefficients y'(k) puis traités par transformée fréquentielle inver se pour reconstituer le signal d'origine après transmis- sion x'(n). Au cours du processus de codage, après codage des coefficients pour transmission des coefficients codés Cy(k), une étape de décodage de ces coefficients codés Cy(k) et de traitement par transformée fréquentielle inverse pour reconstituer le si- gnal décodé x"(n), sensiblement identique au signal x'(n), et le gabarit optimal de filtrage est déterminé pour reconstituer le signal d'origine x(n). Les coefficients codés Cy(k) et les paramètres de gain et de gabarit de filtrage sont transmis simultanément vers 1e décodage.
