PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the safety of a supporting device for furniture which can be used for a partitioning furniture placed to intercept a space between the floor and the ceiling. SOLUTION: The supporting device for furniture is provided with a grounding part 2 for installing, which moves up and down between the highest and the lowest positions with respect to the grounding level of wheels 5A, 5B, 6 for moving, and a means 4 for driving to move up and down the grounding part 2 for installing. At least, a wheel 6 for moving among the wheels 5A, 5B, 6 is placed at the end of a movable frame 7, which can be pulled forward from a main body of the furniture. When the grounding part 2 for installing locates higher than the grounding level of wheels 5A, 5B, 6, the supporting device for furniture has a function that the wheels 5A, 5B, 6 support the main body of the furniture as the furniture can move on a floor 54. Only when the movable frame 7 is pulled out from a stored position X, found on the bottom of the main body of the furniture, to a pulled out position, an interlocking means 47 activates the means 4 for driving to move up and down.
