PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water cleaner capable of obtaining cleaned water of substantially same quantity as that of feed water, keeping the effect of activated carbon for a long time, and lightening the weight of the activated carbon, and to provide activated carbon therefor. SOLUTION: A first Venturi part 22 of a small diameter, a second Venturi part 24 of a large diameter, and a space 34 of sufficiently wide cross section are installed from the upstream side to the downstream side in a cylindrical housing 10, and the space 34 is provided with a dome-shaped activated carbon 12. Through-holes 32 are formed in the top part and its vicinity part of the dome-shaped activated carbon 12 to allow water to pass through the holes. Water whose speed was increased at the Venturi parts 22, 24 is made to collide with the dome-shaped activated carbon, and chlorine, bleaching powder, etc., separated by the collision are adsorbed on the activated carbon 12. By making the activated carbon 12 have a dome shape, its weight is lightened. By making water pass through the through-hole 32, the resistance of water is decreased. As a result, the feed amount of water can be made to be nearly equal to the amount of the purified water.
