A computerized auctioning system and method is provided for auctioning a plurality of items, such as securities. See Figure 1. In an exemplary embodiment, a host server (1) capable of operating the auction is coupled to a plurality of client systems (3) representing the bidders or sellers. The host server will operate the auction for a predetermined time, select the bidders which qualify to purchase the quantity of items, determine the price which all of the qualifying buyers will pay, and allocate the portions of the items that each qualifying bidder will receive. The host server may also continue to operate the auction in predetermined time intervals after the regular auction has ended. |
