PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent leakage of ink caused by expansion of air left in an ink tank. SOLUTION: An ink supply/discharge chamber 280 including a core 222 and a free ink chamber 288 including only ink but not including a member absorbing and holding ink are formed to the ink tank 200 and ink can flow in/flow out of the respective chambers by opening parts. An ink supply/discharge port 202 for supplying/discharging ink and an opening part 223 are provided to the ink supply/discharge chamber 280. The height of the upper wall 292 of the free ink chamber 288 is smaller than that of the upper wall of the ink supply/ discharge chamber 280.
