PURPOSE: An automatic replacement apparatus of grease drum of a blast furnace is provided to automatically replace the empty drum with a new drum by automatically sensing the empty state of grease in the grease drum using ammeter and weight detectors, and a control method of the automatic replacement apparatus is provided. CONSTITUTION: The automatic replacement apparatus of grease drum of a blast furnace comprises a rotation plate(30) which is rotationally installed to the upper part of a base(36), and gears(34-2) formed on the lower surface of which are engaged with a gear(34-1) driven by a motor(37); weight detectors(31-1,31-2) each of which are symmetrically installed on the upper surface of the rotation plate(30), and which transmit detected weight values to a control panel(60) by measuring weight of drums(20-1,20-2) put on the upper part of the weight detectors(31-1,31-2); a stand(15) which is ascended or descended by a cylinder(40) connected to the control panel(60), and in which a barrel pump(14) connected to a supplementary line is coupled to the upper end of a suction pipe that is vertically penetrated into the stand(15); an ammeter(39) for transmitting the converted current values to the control panel(60) by converting the operating state of the barrel pump(14) into current values; position detecting sensors(44,45) for transmitting to the control panel(60) whether the stand(15) is mounted on the drums(20-1,20-2) or separated from the drums(20-1,20-2) by detecting position of the upper end of a cylinder rod(44); and a position detecting sensor(32) for transmitting position of the drums(20-1,20-2) to the control panel(60) by sensing that the drums(20-1,20-2) rotated by the rotation plate(30) are positioned at the lower part of the stand(15).
