PURPOSE: A user authentication system using voices in electronic commerce and a method thereby are provided to store a client's voice in a database as information for the authentication of a service user and to compare the voice inputted from the service user with the authentication information stored in the database in order to confirm whether the service user is a normal user. CONSTITUTION: A user authentication system consists of a mobile terminal(101), a mobile network(102), a switching server(103), the Internet(104), an authentication server(105), a user DB(106), service servers(107/1-107/n), and commercial transaction DBs(108/1-108/n). A service user accesses the Internet(104) through the mobile network(102) and the switching server(103) using the mobile terminal(101). The switching server(103), connected with the authentication server(105) through a serial bus, supports data communication between the mobile terminal(101) and the service servers(107/1-107/n). The authentication server(105) compares a service user's voice, inputted through the mobile network(102), with authentication information and authenticates the service use of the service user according to a result. The user DB(106) stores a user ID allotted to each individual client and the voice of each client corresponding to each user ID. Each service server(107/1-107/n), connected with the switching server(103) through the Internet(104), selectively provides electronic commerce service to a user according to a user authentication result by the authentication server(105). The commercial transaction DBs(108/1-108/n) store each client's user ID and electronic commerce information.
