PURPOSE:To provide a serial type ink jet recorder capable of recording stably and continuously without taking care of the exchange or refilling of an ink tank for a long time and of being structured to be compact. CONSTITUTION:An ink jet recorder having a first ink tank (sub-tank 2) on a record head 1 that records when moving, comprises ink supplying means 8, 9A, 9B, 10 that is connected to the first ink tank 2 in accordance with moving action of the record head 1 to an H.P. position, a detecting means 4 of a remaining ink in the first ink tank 2 and a fixed second ink tank 12. When the remaining ink is reduced to become lower than a prescribed value, the ink is supplied to the first ink tank 2 from the second ink tank 12 on the H.P. position by means of an ink-supplying means. |
