PURPOSE: An X-ray protection circuit of an image display device allows power supply controlling operation to be carried out in case of generation of high voltage, to thereby accomplish double protection of the display device. CONSTITUTION: An X-ray protection circuit of an image display device includes a switch, a signal transmitter(PC1), and a PWM controller(3). The switch receives a DPM control signal for controlling transient state or an X-ray protection control signal according to generation of abnormal state of output high voltage of the secondary side of a high-voltage generator, to carry out on-switching operation. The signal transmitter informs a PWM controller of generation of transient state or generation of abnormal high voltage. The PWM controller operates according to the on-switching operation of the switch to control the switching operation of an SMPS transformer(1). The PWM controller downs output voltage of the secondary side of the SMPS transformer according to the signal transmitted from the signal transmitter.
