PURPOSE: Provided is a method for producing pyrazolo(4,3-d)pyrimidin-7-one compounds and their intermediates in higher yield and cost effectively. Also, provided are a process for the preparation of a compound of formula (I) or a pharmaceutically or veterinarily acceptable salt, pro-drug, polymorph and/or solvate thereof. CONSTITUTION: The method for the producing of pyrazolo(4,3-d)pyrimidin-7-one compound of formula(1) comprises reacting a compound of formula(2), (3) or (4) respectively in the presence of OR and a hydroxide trapping agent, or alternatively in the case of compounds of formula(4) reacting in the presence of a hydroxide trapping agent and an auxiliary base, wherein OR in the case of formation of compound(1) and (4) is CH3(CH2)3O- and wherein X in formulae(2) and (3) is a leaving group.
