Transparent polyolefin, polyester or polyamide articles with a thickness of 1-500 mu m are stabilized against the effects of light, oxygen, heat and chemicals by the addition of 0.005-0.3 wt.% of a hydroxyphenyltriazine ultraviolet (UV) absorber. An Independent claim is also included for 2,4-bis(4-biphenylyl)-6-(4-(2-ethylhexyloxy)-2-hydroxyphenyl)-1,3,5-tr iazine, 2,4-bis(4-biphenylyl)-6-(4-(2-undecyloxy)-2-hydroxyphenyl)-1,3,5-triaz ine, 1,12-bis(3-hydroxy-4-(2,4-bis(4-biphenylyl)-1,3,5-triazin-6-yl)phenoxy )dodecane, 1,10-bis(3-hydroxy-4-(2,4-bis(4-biphenylyl)-1,3,5-triazin-6-yl)phenoxy )decane, 2,4-bis(4-methoxyphenyl)-6-(4-(2-ethylhexyloxy)-2-hydroxyphenyl)-1,3,5 -triazine and compounds of formula (Ia). X = 13-24C alkylene, A-CO-O-D-O-CO-A, CO-A'-CO, or 3-24C alkylene interrupted by O; A = 1-18C alkylene; D = 2-12C alkylene; A' = 13-24C alkylene.
