The use of a wood preservative for the subsequent protection of wood. The wood preservative comprises a copper compound, an alkanolmonoamine and a complexing organic carboxylic acid or its ammonium or alkali metal salts in a method selected from the group comprising of the wrap method, the injection inoculation method, the drilled hole method and the paste method.
