Extruded intermediates containing a soluble fiber and an insoluble fiber and food products containing same

An extruded fiber-containing intermediate comprising from about 25 top about 99% by weight if soluble fiber source and from about 1 to about 75% by weight of an insoluble fiber source, the mean particle size of the intermediate being from about 25 to about 425 microns. The soluble fiber source is selected from psyllium, beta-glucan, farinaceous grains and mixtures thereof. The extruded fiber is used in drink mixes and baked food products.
