Described is the use of a beta-carotene, a source of fat and a source of dietary fibre for the preparation of a composition for enhancing immune response and improving the overall health of a companion animal and formulated to be administered so as to provide from 6 mg to 315 mg of beta-carotene per kg of diet. Also described is a method of enhancing immune response of a companion animal comprising feeding the animal from 1 to 50 mg/day of beta-carotene. Also described is a method of enhancing the immune response of a companion animal comprising feeding the animal a diet including from 6 mg to 315 mg of beta-carotene per kg of diet. |
