Fumigation of perishable horticultural produce with nitric oxide (NO) in an inert gas mixture

The rate of deterioration of perishable horticultural produce is reduced by fumigating the produce after harvest with nitric oxide in an inert gas in a concentration of 0.1 to 200µ L/L of inert gas, for a time between 2 to 6 hours.
